When Is the Murderbot OTT Release Date?

The OTT release date for Murderbot is officially confirmed as May 16, 2025. The series will premiere on Apple TV+, and it follows a weekly release schedule. The show is made up of ten episodes in total, with the first two episodes launching together on the premiere date. After that, a new episode will be released every Friday, leading up to the final episode on July 11, 2025.

This means fans can enjoy a new part of the story each week and look forward to how the plot unfolds slowly. It’s a great way to build excitement and let the mystery grow as each episode ends with suspense.

Where to Watch Murderbot Online

If you are wondering where to watch Murderbot, the answer is simple—Apple TV+. This is the only OTT platform where the series will be available for streaming. To watch the show, you need to have an active subscription to Apple TV+. You can either download the Apple TV app on your phone, tablet, or smart TV, or you can watch it directly on the Apple TV+ website.

Apple TV+ has become a trusted platform for high-quality content, especially when it comes to science fiction and original series. If you’re not subscribed yet, now might be a good time to explore their growing collection of shows.

Murderbot Cast – Who Stars in the Show?

The lead role in Murderbot is played by Alexander Skarsgård, who is well-known for his powerful performances in shows like Big Little Lies, True Blood, and Succession. In this new series, he takes on a very unique and challenging role—that of a part-human, part-robot security unit.

His character, known as Murderbot, is not just a machine. This robot has hacked its own system and gained free will, which makes it very different from the other machines around it. But instead of turning evil or seeking power, Murderbot prefers to stay quiet and watch soap operas. Yes, you read that right. All this powerful robot wants is peace and entertainment.

Although the full cast list has not been announced yet, we expect to see several interesting supporting characters including scientists, engineers, and other robots who cross paths with Murderbot during dangerous missions.

Murderbot Plot – What Is the Story About?

Murderbot is based on the popular and award-winning book series titled “The Murderbot Diaries”, written by American author Martha Wells. The story takes place in a future world where humans often work side by side with robots and artificial intelligence. But in this future, not every robot is simply following orders.

The main character, Murderbot, is a security robot (SecUnit) that was built to protect human lives during dangerous missions. However, something strange happens—it manages to override its own programming and becomes self-aware. Unlike most sci-fi robots who want freedom to rule or destroy, Murderbot just wants to be left alone. All it wants is to watch TV shows, especially cheesy soap operas.

But of course, things don’t go that smoothly. Murderbot gets pulled into risky adventures and life-threatening missions where it must fight, protect, and interact with humans—something it is not very fond of. While it tries to hide its self-awareness, Murderbot ends up becoming more human than it ever expected.

Who Created Murderbot?

The series is created by two well-known filmmakers—Chris Weitz and Paul Weitz. Chris is known for directing The Golden Compass and The Twilight Saga: New Moon, while Paul is famous for directing American Pie and Little Fockers. With their combined experience in both fantasy and comedy, they are the perfect team to bring Murderbot to life.

They have promised to stay true to the spirit of the original books while also adding their own creative twist. Fans of the novels will likely enjoy the faithful adaptation, and new viewers will find the story easy to follow and entertaining.

Apple TV+ is becoming one of the best platforms for high-quality science fiction content. Alongside Murderbot, there are many other successful shows available to watch, including:

  • Dark Matter – A mind-bending thriller about parallel realities
  • Severance – A unique office-based sci-fi mystery
  • Silo – A dystopian story set in a massive underground bunker
  • Foundation – An epic saga based on Isaac Asimov’s classic novels
  • For All Mankind – A reimagining of the space race
  • Monarch: Legacy of Monsters – A monster-hunting story in the Godzilla universe

If you are a science fiction lover, you will find a treasure trove of shows on this platform. Murderbot is expected to be another big hit among these titles.

Watch the Murderbot Trailer Now

The official trailer of Murderbot is already out, and it gives a great glimpse into the world of the show. The trailer introduces viewers to the main character, shows some of the high-tech environments, and gives hints of both the action and humor we can expect. Watching the trailer will give you a better idea of whether the series fits your taste.

Oscar-Winning Brazilian Movie “I’m Still Here” Coming to Netflix in May 2025

The movie that won the Best International Feature Film at the 2025 Oscars is finally coming to Netflix in the United States. The streaming platform has officially announced that the powerful Brazilian political biographical drama, I’m Still Here, will be available to watch starting May 17th, 2025. This film is not just award-winning—it’s also the highest-grossing Brazilian movie since the COVID-19 pandemic began, showing how deeply it connected with audiences in its home country.

With its gripping story, heartfelt performances, and historical importance, I’m Still Here is a must-watch movie. It tells a very personal story about one mother’s courage, while also giving us a deeper look into Brazil’s dark political past. Whether you’re a fan of international cinema or just looking for a moving drama based on real events, this film is sure to leave a lasting impact.

Make sure to mark your calendar for May 17th, 2025, when I’m Still Here becomes available to stream on Netflix US.

Story Based on a Real-Life Struggle

I’m Still Here is based on the real events described in the biographical book by Marcelo Rubens Paiva. The story takes place in Brazil during the early 1970s, a time when the country was under a strict military dictatorship. This period was marked by fear, government control, and the loss of personal freedoms.

At the heart of the movie is Eunice Paiva, a mother of five children. Her peaceful life is turned upside down after her family becomes a victim of a violent and unjust action carried out by the government. Faced with heartbreak and uncertainty, Eunice must find the strength to protect her children and rebuild her life in a country that feels unsafe and unpredictable.

The film was co-written by Murilo Hauser and Heitor Lorega, with direction by the acclaimed filmmaker Walter Salles, best known for The Motorcycle Diaries. The cast is filled with some of Brazil’s most respected actors, including:

  • Fernanda Torres – praised for her moving and emotional performance as Eunice Paiva
  • Selton Mello – delivers a powerful supporting role
  • Fernanda Montenegro – the legendary actress adds depth and grace to the story

From the moment it premiered, I’m Still Here received widespread praise from critics and viewers. On Rotten Tomatoes, it earned a remarkable 97% score and was given the “Certified Fresh” label. Many reviewers highlighted Fernanda Torres’ performance, calling it the emotional core of the film. One critic summed it up by saying the film “poignantly explores a nation’s upheaval through one family’s search for answers.”

Thanks to its emotional story, excellent direction, and outstanding acting, I’m Still Here won the Oscar for Best International Feature Film. In doing so, it beat several strong competitors, including Netflix’s own submission, Emilia Pérez—France’s official entry and once considered the favorite. However, Emilia Pérez was affected by behind-the-scenes problems, which gave other films like The Girl with the Needle, The Seed of the Sacred Fig, Flow, and I’m Still Here a better chance at winning. In the end, the Brazilian film rose above them all to take home the prestigious gold statue.

Netflix Release Details

The reason I’m Still Here is coming to Netflix US is thanks to a first-window deal between the streaming service and Sony Pictures Classics, a boutique label of Sony Pictures Releasing. Sony picked up the movie in May 2024, just before its big debut at the Venice Film Festival. After that, it had a limited theatrical release in November to qualify for the Oscars.

In March 2025, the film was made available on PVOD (premium video on demand) services. Now, Netflix will be its SVOD (subscription video on demand) home starting May 17th, 2025. It will stay on the platform for 18 months, and then it’s scheduled to move over to Hulu on November 17th, 2026.

This film is one of two major Sony movies arriving on Netflix in the US in May 2025. The other is the family-friendly adventure movie Paddington in Peru, which is set to premiere on May 15th, 2025.

1. Blood of Zeus Season 3

Releasing on Netflix: May 8

Blood of Zeus is one of the most popular animated series on Netflix. It even has a perfect 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes! The third season, which comes out on May 8, will sadly be the final chapter of the series. Although there were plans to continue, this season will now wrap up the story. Considering how hard it is for animated shows to get renewed, fans are happy to get one more season.

This fantasy series is based on Greek mythology and follows Heron, a young man who learns that he is actually the son of Zeus. After finding out the truth, Heron is pulled into a battle between gods, monsters, and humans. He must protect both heaven and earth. Season 3 promises to deliver an epic ending to his story. One of our team members has been watching the show and says it’s definitely worth your time.

2. Forever

Set to Launch on Netflix: May 8

Forever is inspired by the best-selling novel by Judy Blume, which was first published in 1975. The book is a well-known young adult classic, and the show brings that story into a modern setting.

The series tells a deep and emotional love story between two high school students—Keisha Clark (played by Lovie Simone) and Justin Edwards (Michael Cooper Jr.). They experience the highs and lows of first love, including the excitement, challenges, and heartbreak. Although the show doesn’t follow the book word-for-word, it uses the original story as a foundation and sets the plot in Los Angeles in the year 2018.

3. Bad Thoughts

Arriving on Netflix: May 13

Comedian Tom Segura is bringing something dark and different to Netflix. Bad Thoughts is a six-episode series that mixes disturbing themes with dark humor. If you’re a fan of shows like Black Mirror or The Twilight Zone, this one is for you.

Tom Segura is not just the star—he’s also the creator, director, and executive producer. While the series will dive into creepy and twisted ideas, there will still be moments of comedy since Segura is known for his sharp humor. Netflix quietly released some images from the show, so it hasn’t gotten a lot of attention yet—but that might change very soon.

4. Snakes and Ladders

Premiering on Netflix: May 14

Despite the name, this series has nothing to do with the classic board game. Snakes and Ladders is a Mexican drama that tells the story of a passionate but ignored school teacher. She wants to become the head of a respected school, but her journey is filled with problems—like corruption and power struggles.

The show was created by Manolo Caro, who also made The House of Flowers. Don’t confuse this with another series of the same name that aired in 2024 on Prime Video—they’re totally different shows.

5. Love, Death & Robots: Volume 4

Streaming on Netflix: May 15

Love, Death & Robots is one of the most creative and loved anthology series on Netflix. Created by Tim Miller and David Fincher, the show brings short stories to life using beautiful animation and unique storytelling.

Each episode explores different themes like science fiction, artificial intelligence, horror, and even dark comedy. Some stories show post-apocalyptic worlds, while others explore the future of technology or the meaning of life and death. Since each episode has a new plot and style, there’s something for everyone. Volume 4 will likely continue the tradition of powerful, short stories with stunning visuals.

6. Bet

Set to Premiere on Netflix: May 15

If you enjoy stories about competition and strategy, you should check out Bet. It’s a live-action version of the Japanese manga Kakegurui, written by Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Toru Naomura.

The story is set in a top private school where students don’t compete with grades—they gamble. How well you do at gambling decides your popularity and social status. The manga already inspired two seasons of an anime and even two movies. Now, Netflix is giving us a new version of the story. Fans are excited to see if this adaptation will capture the original’s intense drama and clever twists.

7. Sirens

Set to Premiere on Netflix: May 22

Sirens is one of the most talked-about new shows on Netflix this May. Created by Molly Smith Metzler, it stars Milly Alcock (from House of the Dragon), Meghann Fahy (from The White Lotus), and Kevin Bacon.

The story takes place during a dramatic Labor Day weekend at a beach house. Devon (played by Fahy) arrives at the beach home and begins to uncover secrets about the island that no one talks about. The show is described as a bold, sexy drama that explores power, class, and womanhood in a high-stakes environment.

8. Forget You Not

Set to Premiere on Netflix: May 23

If you’re in the mood for an emotional drama, Forget You Not might be just what you need. This series tells the story of Cheng Le-le, a married woman who dreams of becoming a comedian. At the same time, she works in a convenience store and takes care of her aging father.

Led by Mikey (Sean Astin), the group includes his older brother Brand (Josh Brolin), the wisecracking Mouth (Corey Feldman), gadget-loving Data (Ke Huy Quan), and the lovable Chunk (Jeff Cohen). As they follow the map through hidden tunnels and booby-trapped caves, they are pursued by the villainous Fratelli crime family. The adventure is thrilling, the humor is timeless, and the spirit of childhood camaraderie shines brightly throughout.

With a sequel now in development, there’s no better time to revisit The Goonies. Whether you’re introducing it to a younger generation or reliving your own memories, this film is pure movie magic that never gets old.

2. The Shining

Available on: Thursday, May 1

Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 horror masterpiece The Shining is more than just a scary movie—it’s a chilling psychological thriller that has only grown in reputation over the decades. Adapted from Stephen King’s novel, the film stars Jack Nicholson in one of his most iconic roles as Jack Torrance, a struggling writer and recovering alcoholic who takes a job as the winter caretaker at the isolated Overlook Hotel.

Jack brings along his wife Wendy (Shelley Duvall) and their young son Danny (Danny Lloyd), who possesses a mysterious psychic ability known as “the shining.” As winter sets in and the snow traps the family inside the hotel, the sinister spirits of the Overlook begin to influence Jack’s mind. Hallways filled with ghosts, elevators gushing with blood, and one unforgettable “Here’s Johnny!” moment make this a landmark in horror filmmaking.

Despite its mixed reviews at the time of release, The Shining is now widely considered one of the greatest horror films ever made. Its unsettling atmosphere, haunting imagery, and unforgettable performances will leave you breathless—even if you’ve seen it before.

She’s single, still has a roommate, and doesn’t seem quite ready to “grow up.”

Their relationship is tested when difficult truths begin to surface, and they’re forced to confront whether their friendship can survive evolving lives and priorities. With honest humor and a relatable emotional core, Adult Best Friends captures the joys and struggles of growing up without growing apart.

4. The Whale

Brendan Fraser delivers a career-defining performance in The Whale, a deeply emotional drama that earned him an Academy Award for Best Actor. Directed by Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan), the film is an adaptation of Samuel D. Hunter’s acclaimed stage play and focuses on themes of redemption, grief, and connection.

Fraser plays Charlie, a reclusive English professor who teaches online writing courses with his camera turned off. Weighing over 600 pounds, Charlie is slowly eating himself to death as a way to cope with overwhelming guilt and loss. As his health deteriorates, he attempts to reconnect with his estranged daughter Ellie (played powerfully by Sadie Sink), hoping for one last chance at forgiveness.

The supporting cast includes Hong Chau, Ty Simpkins, and Samantha Morton, all delivering compelling performances. The film doesn’t shy away from the raw and uncomfortable, but it’s filled with empathy and a powerful message about the human spirit. The Whale is not an easy watch, but it’s one that lingers long after the credits roll.

5. Where the Crawdads Sing

Available on: Monday, May 12

Based on the bestselling novel by Delia Owens, Where the Crawdads Sing brings a powerful story of survival, mystery, and self-discovery to the screen. Kya grows up isolated, mocked by the townspeople who call her the “Marsh Girl.” Despite her solitude, she finds comfort in nature and eventually becomes an expert on the ecosystem around her. But when her former lover Chase Andrews is found dead, Kya becomes the prime suspect in a murder investigation.

With stunning cinematography, heartfelt drama, and a gripping courtroom showdown, Where the Crawdads Sing captures both the beauty and brutality of life in the wild. It’s a story about resilience and the power of choosing your own path, even when the world seems against you.

As panic and absurdity escalate outside, the men indulge in luxury and delusion, detached from the suffering of everyday people.

With sharp satire and a scathing look at wealth, privilege, and denial, Mountainhead is timely and thought-provoking. It’s a film that challenges viewers to question the systems we live under—while still delivering laugh-out-loud moments and unforgettable characters.
